Bobby J's San Antonio, Texas

This last weekend we visited Bobby J's on Bandera Road in San Antonio (Ranked the #2 burger in San Antonio), and boy were we in for a treat.
Orderd the bacon Cheeseburger and was very impressed.  The produce was extremely fresh, and the presentation was nice.  This burger is more of your traditional burger, nothing special but very tasty.
The restaurant is a very nice and comfortable family feel environment and the staff was extremely nice.
My burger was amazing and my favorite was the Sweet Potato Fries.  This is definitely a place I would like to return  to.

Go give it a try and say hi to Bobby or J, they were both there on our visit.

Cover 3 Austin, Texas

Today's journey took us to Cover 3, Voted the number 13 best Burger in Austin. I had never been to Cover 3, but had heard good things about it. Cover 3 is a restaurant sports bar, and it is very nice and comfortable. We got there early today, and were seated right away. The wait staff was super friendly and there were TV's everywhere. Definitely a place I would like to watch some sports.
Our plans for today's quest was to go to another restaurant downtown but due to the downtown madness with all the events, we decided to give Cover 3 a chance.
I ordered the specialty burger (Chopped house Burger), and ordered the usual. The Burger is a half pound burger, so wife and I split the burger.
The burger took a good 10 minutes to be cooked and the presentation was nice. The burger is servedn with Parmesaean Fries on a plain white plate. The presentation was nice and the ketchup and mustard are on the side.
At a first glance the burger is very large, and very nice. I was impressed and right away started eating some of the fries. The fries are string fries with parmesean and are extremely thin. I took a few bites and then took my first bite of the burger.
The bread was very tasty, it was a ciabatta bread and it had a nice toast to it. I could taste the meat right away. The meat did not have a super special flavor but was ok, however it was a bit greasy for my taste.
The bread was very good, but the meat was greasier than I would have liked. Also, the meat did not have a special taste to it, or it could have but since it was so greasy I could not taste. Other than the greasy meat, the burger was very good and I enjoyed it.
I would have to disagree with Texas Monthly on this one, I dont think it would be a top burger in Texas, and does not make the top ten cut with me. I would go back, and probably order the burger again, but I would also consider ordering something else. When there is a good burger, I dont order anything else.

Because of the atmposphere, the presentation, the friendly staff and the overall experience I give the burger a 6.5.. Not a bad burger, but not a top burger in the great state of texas.

T-4.0 the meat was greasy and did not have much taste
A-.5 Awesome, friendly staff and great laid back restaurant
P-1.0 Good clean, fresh produce
E-.5 Staff was great, super friendly fast and courteous.
P-.5 Nice delivery, nice contemporary plate and nice look to the burger.
P-0.00 $9.00 for a burger is a bit excessive

Good Luck Grill

Another fine find and an another fine Burger. This week brought me to Good Luck Grill, located in Manor and in the middle of nowhere. Good Luck is a country style restaurant located in the backroads of Manor/Pflugerville.

Overall the burger was Great, good presentation, very clean and fresh veggies and the meat and bread were at a good temperature. I was surprised to have liked the burger as much as I did. Overall value is very good, and the burger was very tasty. In addition to a great burger, there are other great fried foods. Dont go to Good luck if you are trying to avoid Fried foods as their fried foods are very tasty. They do have a few healthy choices, but if you are going to make the drive, stick to Fried.

Hardtails Bar and Grill (Georgetown)

Two saturdays ago, my wife and I made the trip to Georgetown to Hardtails Bar and Grill. I was told by my good buddy Mike Grant that this burger was going to change my life and I would be a new man, so of course I had to try it. He did tell me that this was a biker bar, and I assumed it would be smoky and dirty.

To our delight, we arrived and the building is like a barn made out of cedar. Pretty nice looking building. Inside the bar is really nice, very light up and TV's everywhere. They have an outside stage for music and they are booking Vallejo in April for a night concert. Overall the inside was clean and people were very friendly.

In my typical fashion I ordered the "Plain Old Burger". The price is very reasonable at $5.95.. When I received the burger, the presentation was very nice, very fresh produce and the bun was a sweet bun which I love. The best thing about the bun was that it was lightly toasted yet soft. The veggies were fresh and clean looking, and best of all, crispy. The meat was good, but not great. I personally like a flame cooked burger, and altough this was flame cooked, the meat could have been better. The fries were the thick style cut fries and had a bit of crispiness to it. Overall, I highly recommend this fine restaurant and burger. By the way, there are unique ways of ordering your burger, so make sure to understand the menu and enjoy. Hardtails gets a 7.5.

For you beer drinkers, there beer is ICE Cold and they have the large mugs, and when you receive your mug the ice is on the mug..

Cindy Gone Hog Wild Biker Bar on Hwy 71

This past Saturday, my journey led me to Cindys Biker Bar on Hwy 71 near Bastrop and close to Garfield, Texas. The Bar and Grill has a nice open spot with a lot of Tv's, pool table and gives you a feel of being at the beach.
Known for its burgers, we ventured off to Cindy's. When we arrived the bar was pretty busy and not many people on staff so service was a bit slow, but we did not really care since the day was so nice and were with Good friends.
I ordered the basic burger with Mustard, Ketchup, Pickles, Lettuce and Onions. This is my standard order for Burgers. Once I received my burger, the presentation was nice, but the produce that was showing was not the freshest. The food was a little cold, not too bad, but a little cold. The patty appeared to be a soy based patty and so before my first bite I was a bit skeptical. Once I took my first bite I was happy, and enjoyed my burger. The fries were good, they were extra fried and had a good taste, but a bit on the fatty side.

Overall, the burger was ok and my rating for this burger is a 6.0. I dont know if I would go out of my way again to Cindy's, but would stop if it was on the way.

The quest continues, next up is Andice in Andice Texas.. Stay tuned.
